The overall goal of these programs is to teach participants to awaken, protect and nurture loving kindness and compassion for themselves and others. I present each of these components in a 2-hour block.
In this component, I first teach participants to recognize how positive and negative thoughts and feelings affect them physically and emotionally. Then I give them a series of analytical exercises which they can use to "jump start" their loving, compassionate feelings. Finally, I give them another series of exercises that they can use to focus on positive, rather than negative, thoughts and feelings.
Meditation for relaxation: I teach several ways to meditate with stress relief and relaxation in mind. Approaches include mantra or passage meditation, analytical meditation and focus on the breath. This type of meditation can be used on a regular basis, as a way to reduce stress in general, or in times of particular stress or anxiety.
Meditation to increase compassion and turn around negative thoughts and feelings: In this component, I first instruct participants in basics of meditation for relaxation. Then I teach them specific meditations which they can use to reinforce loving thoughts about others and to gently and gradually develop positive feelings toward difficult people and situations in their lives.
In this component I teach you how slowing down, focusing on the moment, and single-tasking can improve your concentration, relieve stress, increase productivity and your overall sense of happiness! I give specific tips about how to put all of these ideas into practice in your daily life. This is perfect for all people who feel pressured by time constraints and a combination of personal and work-related responsibilities.
This component is a good capstone for the teachings above. I explain how you learn to share your kind feelings and compassion in all of your interactions with others: learn to brighten your own day while brightening others'!
